Stop Losing Yourself: The Hidden Costs of Always Putting Others First

Hey Reader,

Are you the one holding everything together? The peacekeeper, the fixer, the reliable one — but inside you’re tired, overwhelmed, maybe even a little resentful?

This week’s episode of How to Love Yourself No Matter What is for you.

Here’s what we unpack:
Why you’re stuck here — Society, family, and culture taught us to be the “good girl.” To take care of everyone else first. To feel worthy only when we’re fixing, managing, and smoothing things over.
Why it’s so damn exhausting — Carrying everyone’s needs, feelings, and problems drains you. It’s not just the to-do list — it’s the emotional load that’s burning you out.
What it’s costing you — You end up feeling invisible, resentful, anxious, and totally disconnected from your needs.

So… what do we do about it?

I’m not here to tell you to quit your life or blow everything up. I’m here to offer small, powerful shifts:
💛 Calm your system — Take three deep breaths. Smell your favorite lotion. Tune into a song that soothes you. Tiny moments bring you back to you.
💛 Feel your feelings — Stop shoving them down. Let yourself notice your resentment, sadness, anger — that’s how you start releasing the weight you’ve been carrying.
💛 Take tiny steps — “No” is a full sentence. You don’t owe anyone explanations. You are not here to manage everyone else’s reactions.

Listen, love: Taking care of you isn’t selfish. It’s the most powerful, life-affirming thing you can do.

You don’t have to do this alone.

With love,
Amanda

pps: this is my most played song when I taught spin. If you want to go for a run or go for bike ride ... blast this song and go as fast as you f*cking can. Then rest when the beat stops and BREATHE. Then go as fast as you can one more time. Instant RESET. 💐

Hey Reader, I’ve got to tell you about my client "Shirley" (name changed for privacy"—because her story gives me full-body chills. Shirley hired me because she was having panic attacks just thinking about getting in a car or on a plane. Anxiety had such a grip on her life that even the idea of travel would send her spiraling. She felt like a prisoner to her fear. But Shirley was done living like that. So we started working together. I taught her the tools I use with all my clients—real,...

Hey Reader, Have you ever walked away from a conversation and thought, “Did they even hear me?”Or maybe it’s more subtle—like shrinking your voice or second-guessing what you said because someone didn’t quite “get” you. If you’re nodding along, I recorded this week’s podcast just for you. In this episode, I’m sharing a really personal story that perfectly illustrates what it feels like to be unseen and unheard, especially when you’re neurodivergent or just wired a little differently.We’re...

Hey Reader, Have you ever felt like no one really gets you? Like you’re constantly giving but not receiving? Like you’re exhausted from trying to meet everyone else’s needs while yours are left on the back burner? If that’s you, I want you to know—you’re not alone. And more importantly, there’s nothing wrong with you. The truth is, many of us (especially sensitive and neurodivergent women) have been taught to mask our needs, to be “easygoing,” to go with the flow—even when we’re drowning...
